Fri.22.Feb.08:
Playtone Single Launch & Scottish Tour

One of Scotland’s best kept secrets, Glasgow-based Playtone, will finally release their debut single ‘Round At My Place’ on 25 Feb 2008. The band will also embark on a short Scottish tour on 22 Feb, beginning with their single launch night at Glasgow’s Classic Grand.

The four-piece, influenced by the likes of The Frames, Jimmy Eat World, Bruce Springsteen and Radiohead, are familiar faces on the Glasgow and Edinburgh music scenes. They’ve quietly toured their soulful pop epics – of which ‘Round At My Place’ is a stunning example – across the UK, Ireland and Europe since forming in 2001.

‘Round At My Place’, a song “about trust”, was recorded by Brian McNeil (Mull Historical Society) at Gravity Studios last year. It showcases the band’s substantial vocal and instrumental talents to great effect and has already become a firm favorite amongst their Scottish fans. And while ‘best kept secret’ may be a soundbite that’s ultimately hard to live up to, there’s no denying that Playtone have been gathering a strong fanbase over the last five years.

2007 also saw Playtone highlighted on Channel Four’s ‘Slash Music’ website, with track ‘Tonight’ receiving glowing reviews from Scissor Sisters guitarist Del Marquis. A previous 2005 download release on Download.com was picked as an ‘Editor’s Highlight’ after receiving 25,000 downloads in just two months.

Tickets for Playtone’s single launch can be purchased here and from tickets scotland. Check out supports Marlow and Kurai Kotoro.
