Coming Up In April
Would Be Kings - Classic Grand - Saturday 19th April
A solid 5 piece modern alt rock band, carefully balancing all of their combined influences to create a unique yet easily accessible brand of modern pop rock music, Would Be Kings, formed in Glasgow in January 2007 from the ashes of ‘space rock’ band Standby, have everything you’d ever want in a rock band. A frontman with great presence and charisma, a powerful singing voice and self-confidence, songwriting sibling guitarists and an enthusiastic rhythm section, WBK are definitely an act to catch live.
Laura Healy - Nice N Sleazy - Friday 25th April
Usually found singing backing vocals for Dicelines regular Colette McKendrick, Laura Healy has an impressive catalogue of solo material, including her recent E.P.. She will be performing her own brand of folk rock pop at Glasgow’s Nice N Sleazy on Friday the 25th of April.
Support comes from Ohio and Anna Meldrum.
The Twisted Melons Single Launch - The Beat Club Saturday 26th April
Prolific Campbelltown prog-rockers the Twisted Melons will celebrate their fourth download release “Can’t Keep A Thing / Closer” on Saturday 26th April with a gig at The Beat Club in Glasgow.
In association with Emubands and Dicelines, the brothers, whose sparkling live reputation goes hand in hand with their lyrical and compositional genre-busting, present a sophisticated pop song that retains a rock snarl; about love and loss, but it’s also about staying resolute in adversity. Packed full of goodness, it is the first taste of their new album, due later in the year.
Pick it up on your 'pod, pop-pickers!
